Olivia visited from California for spring break, and we took the opportunity for 8th grade graduation photos.  Her photogenic face was a treat!  Again, Grandma & Grandpa's garden provided the perfect backdrop.

Ella turns ONE!

We had fun at Ella's house, sneaking in some photos during her family's afternoon routine.  I am feeling increasingly confident in my ability to find good light almost anywhere - and we did it today!  Happy Birthday darling Ella!

You wouldn't know it from these perfectly posed photos, but Ella is a little mover - we fought long and hard for these perfect shots - got about 30 out of 300 that weren't "action" shots.

Miss Provo

We beat the snow by a few hours to get head shots for Meredith to run for Miss Utah!  Typically, our shoots together have been in the hot summertime - which means perfect, warm lighting - but we faked it pretty well I think.  Good luck in the Miss Utah pageant, Mer!

Indoor Headshots

It's *still* photography slow season, which is a great time for experimenting!  I have met with these ladies in a book club for five years now, and I begged a get-together for the express purpose of head shots.  We basked in the winter window light while we played with kids and sat around talking.  I like the result.

[home]School Pictures!

Adrie's amazing pre-K teacher has the most beautiful family of girls (plus 2 little boys), and her youngest girls do schooling at home.  Miss Wendy gives so much to Adrie; thus I've been thinking jon what I could do that's nice for her.  Voila!  School pictures.  Though really, I'm the lucky one - such cute girls!

Headshots

I talked Liz in to coming over this afternoon so I could practice with whatever light might be available, and purposely didn't check the weather.  Sometimes bright, hazy/white winter sunshine is trickier than you would think, so it was good practice for me.   Thanks, Liz!

What I've been up to

Maybe it's just the slow season, but I've got photography on the brain and I'm itching to take beautiful photos.  Preferably in summer light, which won't happen for at least 4 months.  In the meantime, I'm putting that energy toward updating things like my web page - www.alainasdigitaldarkroom.com - and my tabs across the top up there.

Gathering up my favorite photos from the last couple of years has been downright exciting.  You can see some of the best of the best along the Portfolio tab up top.  I like seeing them all in one place.

I also forgot about this little beauty, and finding it made my night.  Happy January!
